LIGNIA Wood Company launches architectural CEU programme

Criswell talking at AWFS Fair

LIGNIA® Wood Company, a global manufacturer of modified timber products for the construction industry, announces its partnership with Criswell Davis, American hardwood expert and recent TEDxDayton presenter: American Hardwood Improves Our Lives. The partnership includes launching and presenting LIGNIA’s architectural CEU High-Performance Modified Wood: Beauty Built to Last beginning in February.

“I am delighted to collaborate with LIGNIA to present a well-designed CEU depicting wood as a viable material for interior and exterior applications that benefits our health and well-being,” said Criswell Davis, founding member of the Timber and Forestry Foundation. “The messages I deliver in my TEDxDayton talk align well with my partnership with LIGNIA and I am looking forward to spreading the word to the architectural community.”

LIGNIA’s newly designed CEU provides an overview of the wood modification process that results in a product that’s non-toxic, highly durable, Class-A fire-rated, environmentally friendly, and ideal for use in indoor and outdoor applications. The course will also explain how LIGNIA contributes to LEED v4 certification.

“I’m so pleased to continue the work Criswell and I started in July at the AWFS Fair,” said Lisa Ayala, North American sales manager for LIGNIA. “Criswell is not only a champion of the use of wood in design but has distilled a lot of complex information about biophilia and its effect on humans in a succinct and powerful TEDxDayton talk. It will be an honor to partner with him on our CEU talks with architects.”

Both LIGNIA and LIGNIA Fire offer architects to specify a wood product that can stand the test of time with a 50-year above ground warranty against rot and decay. LIGNIA Fire carries a Class A ASTM-E 84 rated for flame retardancy, mitigating the need for after-market fire retardancy applications.

LIGNIA is real wood made with legally sourced FSC®-certified softwoods from managed plantations. After its modification process the wood, featuring high-durability and beauty, matches or exceeds the performance of tropical hardwoods.

LIGNIA and LIGNIA Fire are suitable for a variety of indoor and outdoor applications — flooring, siding, decking, furniture, yacht decks and more — and is easy to machine, coat and glue.
