LIGNIA Yacht wins a prestigious DAME Design Award
The real wood alternative to teak decking sailed through to the finals in the ‘Marina equipment, boatyard equipment and boat construction tools and materials’ category and beat strong contenders to take the prize.
We couldn’t be happier after a successful year for LIGNIA Yacht – our modified timber was a finalist at the Maritime UK Awards for Innovation in September, and it won a highly prestigious Innovation award at the IBEX Yacht Show in Florida in October.
LIGNIA Yacht is a sustainable alternative to teak. It’s made from radiata pine that is grown on FSC® plantations and is then modified in the company’s 50,000 sq ft manufacturing plant in Wales, offering a responsible alternative to teak for yacht decking. The resulting LIGNIA Yacht wood has all the properties and beauty of teak and in some cases actually surpasses it.
It’s now being specified on yachts worldwide, including the gorgeous Spirit Yachts 50CR which was unveiled at Southampton Boat Show earlier this year.
Our CEO, Hans Ng, says, “We first launched LIGNIA Yacht at METSTRADE 2018 so we’re delighted to be walking away with a DAME Design Award one year on. It just goes to show that LIGNIA Yacht is making real waves in the marine world – we can’t wait to see what’s next.”
We’ll be exhibiting at the METSTRADE show at Stand CMP.15.EL – come and see us to learn more about LIGNIA Yacht.
