Following on from a successful streak of award wins, we’re thrilled to announce that our fire-resistant modified wood product, LIGNIA Fire, has won another award in the US – this time, a Product Innovation Award from Architectural Products magazine.

A distinguished panel of 22 designers and product specialists skilled in product evaluation chose LIGNIA Fire as the front runner for 2020.

The PIA program awards manufacturers based on attributes, qualities, functionality and/or performance beyond industry standards.

This year, LIGNIA Fire has already won ‘Best of Products’ in the Timber category at The Architect’s Newspaper Awards and received a Special Mention at the 2020 Architizer A+Awards.

SUSTAINABLE AND BEAUTIFUL

The judges spoke very highly of LIGNIA Fire. They said:

“Finding a product that offers both fire and weather-resistance has not been an option, regardless of products making those claims. Finding a wood treatment process that is also free of Red List chemicals seems to be a Holy Grail.”

With built-in fire retardancy as well as sustainable credentials and a beautiful appearance, multi award-winning LIGNIA Fire is making a name for itself in North America, where it is currently being specified for projects on both the East and West coasts.

Discover award-winning LIGNIA Fire

LIGNIA Fire retains the same beautiful appearance of our standard LIGNIA product but has built-in fire retardancy included. Tested independently according to ASTM E2768, LIGNIA Fire has recently achieved a Class A flame spread rating, extended to 30 minutes.

With no need for additional costly and time-consuming fire-retardant treatments, the modified wood has already proved popular with American architects and construction workers. Currently being installed on the net-zero SYMBI HOMES project in Maryland, LIGNIA Fire is already lined up for further projects across America.

Typically used for siding and decking, LIGNIA Fire is also approved for use in schools in the US, passing the CDPH Emissions Compliance Test – California Public Dept. of Health Version 1.2.

Sourced from FSC ® certified plantations, LIGNIA Fire’s eco-friendly credentials offer a sustainable alternative to traditional hardwoods typically used in construction.
