LIGNIA Fire passes 30 minute flame spread test

We're pleased to announce that our award-winning LIGNIA Fire product has achieved a Class A flame spread rating, extended to 30 minutes.

This is a huge accolade for our flame-retardant wood that has been independently tested, according to ASTM E2768.

With no need for additional costly fire treatments, the product has proved popular in North America where it is currently being specified on a number of projects.

Flame-retardant modified wood

LIGNIA Fire is made from radiata pine, sourced from FSC-certified plantations.

The wood undergoes a modification process to lock the flame-retardant properties in at a molecular level, meaning the lumber is available to use as soon as it arrives at the construction site with no need for time or money spent on additional applications.

Lisa Ayala, Sales Manager for North America says: "As a new product in North America, we are so pleased that we achieved the flame spread in short order. It's testament to our hardworking scientists and technical experts that all the hard work has come to fruition.

Recently recognized by Architizer, the prestigious online inspiration, and tools for architects site, LIGNIA Fire received a Special Mention in the 2020 A+Awards. Two wonderful achievements for LIGNIA in 2020."

LIGNIA Fire is suitable for both interior and exterior applications. Applications include decking and siding, as well as millwork projects such as windows and doors.

LIGNIA Fire is also approved for use in schools in the US, passing the CDPH Emissions Compliance Test, in line with the California Dept. of Health Version 1.2.
