Creating a Prototype LIGNIA Bench

Gareth Davies, our Timber Handler Process Operator, has been busy creating a beautiful LIGNIA bench for a leading architectural firm in London. The bench is a scaled-down prototype sample, constructed using our gorgeous sustainable timber.

A trained carpenter, Gareth joined the LIGNIA family in January and has been working on a variety of exciting projects. Since starting, he has designed tables for our science lab as well as a new meeting room which we’ll be revealing soon. He has been working closely with the team to help create new pieces made entirely from our modified timber.

The most recent is this stunning LIGNIA bench, machined with our logo. Working closely with Anthony Carroll, our Senior Sales Executive, Gareth brought the initial concept to life. After finalising the design on paper, he began the practical work of creating a statement piece of furniture which can be used both internally and externally. The bench only took Gareth a week to complete - from start to finish.

Walking us through the process, Gareth explained he used normal fixtures and fittings for the bench.

LIGNIA’s pH neutral properties enabled him to use mild steel fixings rather than stainless steel. Gareth made sure there was no metal in sight by using washers made from LIGNIA wood.

The LIGNIA logo was machined by our trusted supplier ABC Designs, who work closely with us and are only a 5-minute walk away from our site in Barry.

We’re sure you’ll agree the natural warmth and beauty of our LIGNIA wood gives the bench an added air of elegance.
